NEW loan capture Daniel Wishart will be up against familiar foe on Sunday as Skrill Conference South leaders Eastleigh take on Hayes & Yeading at Woking FC (1pm).

It was during his time with Hayes that the pacy 21-year-old attacking wideman, who debuted against Dorchester on Tuesday after signing for the rest of the season from Alfreton Town, first came to the attention of Spitfires boss Richard Hill He joined Alfreton on a one-year deal for an undisclosed fee last summer, since when he has been loaned back to Hayes.

Wishart has spent the last month on loan to Terry Brown’s Margate in the Ryman Premier and was lined up to extend his Hartsdown Park stay – until Eastleigh intervened.

“Daniel’s mates with (right-back) Dan Spence from their Hayes days. I don’t know what his situation is for next season, but I was aware he was about to sign for another month at Margate,” said Hill.

“I was always a big admirer of Hayes when Nas Bashir was manager there and Daniel caught my eye, along with Spence, and I tried to sign him before he went to Alfreton.

“I’ve given myself a headache now because I’ve probably got too many players, but when someone like Daniel becomes available I’ve got to be interested.

“He can play wide or up front but predominantly his best position is on the left.

“I’ve got good wide options now with Reece Connolly, Yemi Odubade, Stuart Fleetwood and Wishart.”

Connolly sits out the last of his three-match ban on Sunday as Eastleigh bid for a season’s double over Hayes.

The Spitfires won’t know until tomorrow if striker Stuart Fleetwood and defender Dean Beckwith will be fit to play.

Fleetwood has sat out two games injured and centre-back Beckwith limped off last Saturday complaining of a tight hamstring.

It’s been a draining season, but ultra-professional Hill is leaving no stone unturned keeping tabs on his players’ well-being.

“I’ve had them all blood and saliva-tested by a sports scientist mate of mine and the results are that half a dozen of them at the wrong end of tired. But we expect that because of where we are in the season and the amount of games we’ve played,” he said. “We finished the game on Tuesday and are not training again until Saturday. We’ve got another game next Tuesday (at Bishops Stortford), but playing on Sunday has given us an extra day this week.”
