EASTLEIGH chairman Stewart Donald has praised Bristol Rovers' travelling supporters for the way they conducted themselves last night.

Over 1,000 Rovers fans filled one side of the Silverlake Stadium for the 1-1 Vanarama Conference draw watched by a new league record crowd of 2,621 for Eastleigh.

"I felt compelled to write to Bristol Rovers regarding the conduct of their supporters," Donald said. "It was obviously a huge night for Eastleigh as we knew that, largely due to the size of their support, we would be expecting a record league attendance.

"Bristol Rovers' supporters could have made this a difficult night for us but, quite the contrary, they behaved in an exemplary manner. They were an absolute credit to the club.

"They arrived in huge numbers, were well mannered and contributed massively to what was a special night for our club.

"They are used to arriving at better facilities than we are currently able to offer but this presented no issues for them.

"They were understanding, considerate and just supported the team in a well-spirited, sporting manner. I would like to pass on our appreciation to all those fans for their conduct."
