Eastleigh’s Vanarama Conference match against Lincoln City this afternoon has been delayed by an hour because of a fire in the hotel the Imps were staying at.

The game was originally meant to kick off at 3pm but, thanks to a fire in the luxury Hilton Hotel in Chilworth where the Spitfires' opponents were staying, the game will get started at 4pm at the Silverlake Stadium instead.

The reason for the delay is that the Lincoln team are currently unable to gain access to their rooms to collect belongings and equipment for the game as nearly 60 fire-fighters battle the blaze.

It is the second time in a week that the Imps are visiting Stoneham Lane after they lost 2-1 in last Saturday's FA Cup first round defeat, thanks to a Ben Strevens 90th minute goal.

This trip has already got off to a bad start before a ball has been kicked, with pre-match meals and preparations being done on the club's coach instead of the hotel.

Lincoln's official Twitter feed posted pictures as the drama unfolded. All guests, including the Lincon players, were evacuated but no-one was hurt.
