EASTLEIGH'S Jai Reason has scooped the Vanarama Conference player-of-the-month award for February.

Given the heights the Spitfires have hit of late, there could have been any number of contenders from the Stoneham Lane club, but it was his outstanding performance against Macclesfield that got Reason the nod.

Recognising the contribution of his teammates, Reason said: "It's been a good month for the football club and me, but I wouldn't have got this award without the hard work from my teammates and everyone at the club. We're now looking forward to the end of the season and the final push towards the play-offs."

The official awards panel, consisting of representatives from the Football Conference, media and Vanarama. said, “Much was expected of the Hampshire outfit this season and, despite not everything going to plan, Jai has continued to have much self-belief and pass that on to those who play around him.

"February saw him returning to his best form and that showed during the month with the Spitfires becoming serious contenders for promotion.

"His contribution to try and make promotion a reality could not have been better demonstrated than the sizzling display he made in the crushing 4-0 defeat over Macclesfield Town in a televised BT Sport classic in the Vanarama Conference.”
