CHRIS Todd says Eastleigh’s season is now all about “focus” as they look to bounce back from Tuesday's FA Cup exit at Bolton with a National League victory at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

Having made themselves at home in Football League surroundings during their headline-hitting Cup run, the Spitfires are determined to keep that sort of company every week.

League matters have unavoidably been put on the back burner this month due to Cup and Trophy commitments.

But having exited both competitions, the spotlight returns to the number one priority of promotion from the National League, where Todd’s men are currently fifth, 12 points behind leaders Cheltenham with two games in hand.

“We’re not pleased to have gone out of the Cup, but it's all about focus now, knowing we’re in one competition and that’s it,” said Todd.

“It’s a chance to get our heads down and try to achieve what we want to achieve.

“We’ve got games in hand and there’s a lot of football coming up.

“It’s going to be an interesting ride and I believe we’ve got the credentials to get where we want to be.

“It’s been a good journey and this is just the start of things that can happen for Eastleigh FC.

“The Cup run’s been brilliant, a real marker for this football club. That little push on with all the press and publicity is what we needed.

“It’s given us a taste and hopefully we can use it to our benefit for the remainder of the season.

“We’ve got to be a bit ruthless and perform week in, week out.”

Todd, who has hinted of another new signing in the pipeline, is today preparing to send striker Ross Lafayette out on loan to divisional rivals Aldershot Town.

Even with Yemi Odubade facing another three to four weeks out with hamstring problems, Lafayette – signed on a free transfer from Luton Town during the summer – has struggled to break into the side.

“It’s just the way football is sometimes,” said Todd. “Ross has done nothing wrong, but he’s not first or second choice, he wants to play and I can’t offer him that. He needs to get match fit and then we’ll see what happens.”

Boreham Wood are 20th, but achieved a notable 0-0 draw against Cheltenham last time out.

They have conceded 30 league goals – three fewer than the Spitfires – but scored just 24 to Eastleigh's 44.

Manager Luke Garrard has been busy pepping up attack during the transfer window, bringing in ex-Basingstoke man Delano Sam-Yorke on loan from Forest Green and taking Jamie Lucas for a third spell from Bristol Rovers.

Wood have also signed ex-AFC Bournemouth youngster Jordan Chiedozie, but he rolled his ankle on his debut against Cheltenham.
