TEENAGE Eastleigh defender Jack Smith is among a trio of rearguard loan signings to have linked up with Ryman Premier outfit Farnborough.

The Spitfires academy graduate is joined at Cherrywood Road by Sam Pearce and Perry Ryan, both from Gosport Borough.

Smith spent some of the early part of the season dual-signed with Sydenhams Premier outfit Brockenhurst and recently returned from a spell with Bath City of the Vanarama National League South.

Like the experienced Pearce, he operates at centre-back, while Ryan – back for a second loan with Farnborough - is equally at home in midfield or defence.

Boro boss Spencer Day said: “All three lads have been on our radar for a couple of weeks. We’d hoped to have them for last Saturday’s game, but the timing didn’t quite happen.

“To get Sam, in particular, I’m sure will be a great signing. He’s coming back from an operation and has played a development game already and looks like he’s never been away.

“Add to that Perry, at either defence or midfield, and young Jack, who’s very highly-rated, and I believe we now have cover in both defence and in midfield with better depth.”
