CHRIS Todd has ticked another name off his summer wish list, signing jet-heeled striker Scott Wilson from Weston-super-Mare.

The 23-year-old has joined the Spitfires on a one-year contract, having turned down interest from Swedish top-flight outfit Ostersunds.

Manager Todd said: “I am excited to have Scott join the squad.

“He is an incredibly hungry individual who is looking to succeed in the game and has a huge desire to succeed with Eastleigh.”

Wilson tweeted: “Pleased to sign for @eastleighfc can’t wait to get started and scoring goals at an ambitious club!”

A product of the Bristol City academy, Wilson also spent time on trial with Bristol Rovers.

He signed for Gloucester City in June 2012 having previously shone in Southern League football with Yate and Cinderford Town.

He joined Weston at the start of last season on the back of successful campaigns with Yate and Paulton Rovers and is described by the Seagulls as possessing “pace and a fantastic goalscoring record.”

Although Wilson signed a new contract for National League South outfit Weston, the club were aware that he wanted to progress up the pyramid and had no intention of standing in his way.

In what will be music to Eastleigh fans’ ears ahead of the new National League season, Weston boss Ryan Northmore told the Seagulls' official website: “Scott deserves his chance.

“It’s been enjoyable to coach him and help Scott unlock some more of his potential.

“He prioritises his football, works hard, is talented and his pace is a real asset.”
