EASTLEIGH, AFC Totton and Sholing made it into the third round of the Hampshire FA Senior Cup on a night of high drama around the county.

Defender Ayo Obileye, one of four senior pros in the Eastleigh side, fired the Spitfires ahead at Alresford Town, Chris Mason replied from the penalty spot and Tony Lee edged it 2-1 for the National League outfit on 66 minutes.

AFC Totton went in 1-1 at half-time at Newport IoW after Dave Allen’s 16th-minute opener had been wiped out by Port’s Joe Butcher. Two second-half Dan Munday goals sent the Stags home 3-1 winners.

Sholing’s thrilling, rollercoaster derby with Hamble Club ended 4-3 to the Boatmen in front of a 173 crowd at the Universal Stadium.

Ricky Bull and ex-Sholing striker James Thompson twice put Hamble ahead, Dan Miller and Dan Mason (2) made it 3-2 to Sholing and, after Thompson had levelled, the Sydenhams One visitors had a Doug Rowe penalty superbly saved by Boatmen’s keeper Ryan Gosney.

Defender Miller won it with a towering 78th-minute header from Kev Brewster’s corner.

Bashley’s showdown with a young Aldershot Town side was every bit as spectacular.

From trailing 5-2, the Foresters hit back for a breathtaking 6-5 victory – four-goal hero Jesse Gould winning it from the penalty spot with virtually the last kick of the game. Nick Magee (2) was also on target for Tom Prodomo’s buoyant Bash boys.

AFC Stoneham (Matt Palmer, Chris Manning) were held 2-2 by New Milton (Carl Phillips, Max Crow) but prevailed 5-4 on penalties, while ex-Eastleigh man Romone Rose struck twice for Basingstoke Town in their 5-1 elimination of Farnborough.

Jake Pappel (3) and Joe Noakes steered AFC Portchester past higher league Petersfield Town 4-0, but there was a shock for Cup holders Havant & Waterlooville who fell by the wayside 2-1 at Hartley Wintney.

Ex-Saint Matt Paterson netted for the Hawks on 87 minutes but, by then, two-goal Ross Cook had done the damage for the Combined Counties underdogs.

Winchester City, last season’s beaten finalists, host Blackfield & Langley this evening (Wednesday, 7.45pm), Fawley AFC entertain Alton Town and Pat McManus's Brockenhurst will welcome a young AFC Bournemouth side to Grigg Lane.
