EASTLEIGH boss Ronnie Moore hopes his side’s first victory in four Vanarama National League games is the start of another successful streak.

The Spitfires will host Chester on Saturday fresh from a much-needed league win that puts them six points off the top-five in eighth.

Having made three changes to the side that conceded a two-goal lead at Gateshead, Moore was relieved to return to winning ways thanks to Mikael Mandron's goal on the stroke of half-time.

He said: “It was a scrappy game and they played quite well to be fair to them. We had to defend well.

“We changed it a little bit from Saturday. We just thought with the injury situation we’d go with three in midfield and go 4-3-3, or 4-5-1 when we had to defend.

“We thought we’d be more of a threat on the counter-attack than we were. But we didn’t keep the ball well enough.

“If we’d kept it better we’d have caused them a few more problems.”

Newly-signed Barnet centre-back Bondz N’Gala was outstanding on his debut, especially considering he only met his teammates for the first time an hour before kick-off.

Moore added: “We’re overloaded with centre-halves but he’s the type of player we want. He’s strong, he knows the game and is always talking to people.

“We need winners like him. He’s got a bit about him and doesn’t like losing. He’s come from the Football League so he obviously thinks we’ve got a chance of going somewhere.”
