Eastleigh have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Sam Togwell from Barnet.

The 32 year-old joins on an 18-month contract for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £20,000, and is available for Matin Allen's first league game in charge at Southport tomorrow.

Having put pen to paper on an 18-month contract, Sam said. “I am pleased to be joining a club with plenty of ambition.

"Also I am looking forward to working for a manager whom I enjoy working for and have had plenty of good times with.”

Togwell has followed defender Gavin Hoyte from Underhill.

He joined Barnet ahead of the 2014/15 season and was part of their Vanarama Conference-winning side under now Eastleigh boss Martin Allen.

Rossi Eames, appointed Bees' interim boss following Allen's move to the Silverlake, is reported as saying: "Sam goes with our respect and gratitude.

"He has been a fantastic servant for the club the past three seasons, been an integral part of the championship-winning season and a top professional and person."

A 5ft 11in defensive midfielder, Beaconsfield-born Togwell has previously played for Crystal Palace, Barnsley, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield.
