EASTLEIGH have this morning confirmed that striker Scott Wilson is going nowhere.

The National League club yesterday announced that they had “accepted a bid” for the pacy marksman, signed on a one-year contract from Weston-super-Mare last summer.

The identity of Wilson’s suitors was not publicly revealed, but the Spitfires granted the player permission to speak to them.

Now Wilson, who turned 24 this month, has decided to stay put at the Silverlake.

A club statement said: “Following yesterday's announcement, we are delighted to confirm that Scott Wilson will be remaining at The Silverlake as an Eastleigh FC player.

“Scott made it clear that he wishes to remain with us and is determined to play a key part in helping us deliver our ambitions”

Eastleigh have also announced the signing of 21-year-old defender Sam Muggleton from Barnet but, as yet, have not confirmed that winger Luke Coulson is moving in the other direction.

Barnet said the deal was done, but a statement released by Eastleigh late last night said: “Contrary to reports from outside sources, Luke Coulson this evening remains an Eastleigh player.

"Luke has met with his potential new club this afternoon and agreed terms. A disparity in the paperwork between the two clubs though has failed to be resolved this evening and, as yet, the deal has not been concluded.

Eastleigh added: “With the January transfer window in full swing, the club expect to announce a couple of signings in addition to Sam Muggleton.

"It is also likely that there will be a similar number of departures as Martin (Allen, manager) looks to shape his squad for the remainder of the season and beyond."
