ON-LOAN Eastleigh goalkeeper Mark Childs bowed out injured after just 22 minutes of Gosport Borough’s 4-0 National League South defeat against Dartford.

The young Spitfire, making his home debut for Borough, was stretchered off and taken to hospital with a dislocated knee.

With no sub ’keeper on the bench, experienced striker Rowan Vine took over between the sticks.

Relegation-battling Borough were already trailing to a seventh-minute Andy Pugh goal and, despite Vine’s best efforts, the third-placed Darts struck three times in the second half courtesy of Luke Wanadio, Keaton Wood and Kaka Dembele.

To cap a grim afternoon for Gosport, they also lost ex-Eastleigh striker Tony Lee to injury on 66 minutes.

“The injury to the 'keeper early doors affected us, but I’m disappointed with the way we defended,” admitted Borough boss Alex Pike.

Poole Town manager Tom Killick felt his side looked “a bit jaded” in their 2-0 home win over Weston-super-Mare.

“We weren’t at our best but we managed to get over the line,” said Killick after goals by Marvin Brooks and Luke Burbidge had kept the fifth-placed Dolphins in the play-off hunt.
