BILLERICAY Town have today confirmed the signing of Mekhi Leacock-McLeod from Eastleigh.

The pacy winger lasted little more than five weeks at the Silverlake having been signed from VCD Athletic in mid-January by Martin Allen, who was sacked as Spitfires boss last Wednesday.

Having impressed off the bench on his debut against Woking, the 20-year-old former Fulham, Wolves and Glasgow Rangers youngster was twice named in the starting line-up in home defeats against Braintree and Tranmere Rovers.

He played the bulk of the second half as a sub in Allen's farewell game against Macclesfield last Tuesday and was thrown on as a 75th-minute sub at Dover on Saturday by caretaker boss Richard Hill, the club's new director of football.

Billericay are currently tenth in the Ryman Premier Division, seven points shy of the play-offs.

Leacock-McLeod tweeted: "Happy to sign today for a great club which is on the up @BTFC looking forward to playing for the club and doing well."

Eastleigh will be looking to pull themselves out of a downward spiral of four straight home defeats when in-form Aldershot Town visit in the Vanarama National League this evening (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

The Shots bulldozed Bromley 4-0 on Saturday - their ninth game without defeat - and are in their richest vein of form for almost six years since their days as a Division Two side.

It seems like ancient history now, but Eastleigh triumphed 1-0 in north Hampshire in November - Ronnie Moore's last victory in charge.

Shots boss Gary Waddock will take nothing for granted tonight - despite Eastleigh's dismal home form that has left them without a Silverlake win since October 25.

He said: "They've gone through a period of change, but now new management has gone in there and I'm sure they'll want to perform in front of their home crowd.

"It's always a difficult place to go, but we have to concentrate on ourselves."
