EASTLEIGH have confirmed four prestigious home friendlies against Football League opposition.

Due to report back for training on the last Thursday of June, the National League Spitfires will kick off their pre-season programme against Sky Bet League One outfit AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, July 8 (3pm).

Managed by Neal Ardley, Wimbledon finished 15th last season. Included in their ranks is former Eastleigh favourite Stuart Douglas, now the Dons’ physiotherapist.

A week later (Saturday, July 15, 3pm) Paul Cook’s League Two champions Portsmouth visit, followed by Newport County on Saturday, July 22 (3pm). The Exiles, who held on to their Football League status by the skin of their teeth, include ex-Spitfires David Pipe and Jamie Turley in their ranks.

Rounding off Eastleigh’s home friendly campaign is a visit from League One champions Sheffield United on Friday, July 28 (7.45pm).

The Blades, who finished 14 points clear of second-placed Bolton Wanderers, are managed by ex-Saints trainee Chris Wilder.

To compliment the Silverlake fixtures, Eastleigh are also due to travel to Basingstoke Town (Tuesday, July 11, 7.45pm), Blackfield & Langley (Tuesday, July 18, 7pm) and neighbours AFC Stoneham (Tuesday, August 1. 7.45pm).

The Stoneham game will coincide with the Sydenhams One club switching on their new floodlights.

Admission prices for Eastleigh’s home friendlies, including a special bundle deal, will be announced later this week along with a date for the annual EFC fun day.
