EASTLEIGH’S see-saw week finished on a high at Macclesfield Town this afternoon.
After losing to rock-bottom Solihull Moors on Tuesday, the Spitfires won back their spurs by shooting down the lofty Silkmen 2-1 at Moss Rose.
Mark Yeates was the hero of the hour, scoring both Eastleigh goals.
Having pounced on an error by ex-AFC Bournemouth ’keeper Shwan Jalal on the stroke of half-time, the former Sheffield United and Watford winger struck again five minutes after the restart following superb link-up play with James Constalble.
Spitfires stopper Ross Flitney played his part with several smart saves, but he was denied a clean sheet by a late goal from Danny Whitehead.
Despite the victory, Richard Hill's Spitfires remain in 18th spot ahead of next Saturday’s (November 4, 3pm) home game against Chester.
