Sholing boss Dave Diaper is in a calm mood ahead of his side’s challenge to remain unbeaten in the Sydenhams Premier Division in 2013 – even if everyone else at Sholing is getting the jitters!

The club’s latest game is against bottom-half side Horndean at the Silverlake Arena tomorrow (3pm).

Diaper has an air of calm about him, despite others at the club pitching the remaining fixtures of the year as crunch games.

“Everybody is treating all the games as cup finals at the moment, everyone has one eye on that record,” he said.

“There’s no pressure really. If it happens, it happens, but it would be tremendous if we could remain unbeaten.

“Like any game, we have to be prepared. You don’t know what you’re going to get sometimes.

“The Alresford game was proof of that, they were very difficult to deal with.”

Diaper’s high-fliers scraped past the Magpies 3-2 last weekend, with goals from Tyronne Bowers, top scorer Lee Wort and Ashley Jarvis.

They followed that up with a 5-0 caning of Brockenhurst on Tuesday.

That took the club’s goals record to an astonishing 59 in just 18 legaue games this season, with just 10 conceded.

After hosting Horndean, the Boatmen travel to Folland Sports on Boxing Day before hosting lowly Downton to Portsmouth Road on December 28.

The biggest threat to that record will arguably be the Planemakers, who thrashed last year’s Wessex champions Blackfield & Langley 5-0 at home last Saturday as well as remaining unbeaten in their last five matches.

Folland also ran Sholing close in an FA Vase tie last month, the latter scraping through 2-1.
