Bolton have signed striker Southampton-born Lukas Jutkiewicz on loan from Sky Bet Championship rivals Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has made 24 appearances for Boro this term, including Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Leicester, but has only found the net twice, with both goals coming at the start of August.

The former Coventry forward will bolster Dougie Freedman's attacking options following injury to Jermaine Beckford and the departure of David Ngog to Swansea.

"Lukas is someone I have admired for a while. I've known of him for a long time, going back to his Everton days," Freedman said.

"I believe that if Lukas can find the right club that can provide him with the right sort of service he can quite comfortably be one of the top strikers in this division.

"Because of his pedigree he is someone who is ready to be involved right away."

The Trotters boss could give Jutkiewicz his debut in Tuesday night's clash with QPR at Loftus Road.
