WINCHESTER City played two-thirds of tonight’s 2-0 defeat at North Leigh with ten men.

The visitors had frontman Andrew White sent off in the 28th minute of the Evo-Stik South & West clash for a second yellow card.

It killed off any hope of City pulling off a result in Oxfordshire, but owner Paul McCarthy couldn’t have been happier with effort of his side.

“When you’re down to ten men at this level, you haven’t got a hope, but Andrew White didn’t deserve to get sent off,” he said.

“His second booking was for handball, which was fair, but the first was for a foul which he didn’t commit. The player cheated and dived.”

John Mills opened the scoring for North Leigh in the 20th minute after miscommunication between City defender James McGowan and keeper Rory Anderson.

Their second, scored by Michael Hopkins, was a 76th-minute deflected strike.
