SHOLING have re-signed Jamie Musselwhite ahead of tomorrow’s bottom-of-the-table clash against FA Cup heroes Yate Town.

The striker has been signed as a replacement for Kevin Gibbens, who left Sholing for Blackfield & Langley in the summer, and will play the first game of his second spell with the Boatmen against the only side below them in Evostik Southern League division one (S & W).

Musselwhite has left Sydenhams Wessex Premier outfit GE Hamble to return to the Silverlake Arena and Sholing manager Dave Diaper is delighted.

He said: “Jamie will fill the gap left by Gibbo.

“One thing we’ve tried to do since Kev left is work our way through midfield and we won’t change that but Jamie gives us a plan B.

“He’s got great ability and is a natural goalscorer.

“He’s been brought in to do what he does best, linking play and using his strength, as he did against us in a pre-season friendly.

“He and Ashley Jarvis gave our centre-halves a torrid time.”

Sholing are aiming to bounce back from last week’s last-minute 3-2 defeat at home to Cirencester Town.

“Signing Jamie’s a gee-up for the lads after the Cirencester result,” said Diaper. “He played for us for a season five years ago and only lives down the road so he knows how I work and it suits him.

“We’re very compatible, he’s a self-employed builder and might not be available for every away game, but there’s not as much travel as there is in the Southern Premier.”
