IT looks as if striker Michael Charles is on his way out of Winchester City.

The former AFC Totton marksman, below, played no part in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Paulton in the Southern One South & West.

According to City chief Paul McCarthy, Gosport Borough, Didcot Town and tomorrow night’s visitors Poole Town are in the queue to sign him.

With Charles having penned a one-year deal for Winchester when he joined from Totton during the summer, they will require a fee for the hitman’s services.

“We don’t want him to go, but can we afford to keep him? I’m not sure,” said McCarthy.

“Michael’s not injured and he didn’t refuse to play at Paulton, but we decided between us to see what develops. Something could happen quite rapidly.”
