Youngsters across Southampton will be playing in Saints Foundation Junior World Cup this afternoon after the event was given the go ahead.
Organisers feared the worst as players and the Premier League trophy remained on standby until the weather conditions cleared.
But the tournament will now get underway from 1pm at the Veracity Ground in Merry Oak despite the forecast.
The World Cup will involve varying communities from the city – with the aim to bond them together through sport.
The Premier League trophy will be on show from 4.15pm as team’s 16-year-old boys and girls play in the five-a-side tournament.
Hockey, golf, and basketball sessions will also be available to anybody who wants to get involved in the activity afternoon.
