Hamble Club will have to remain patient to become champions of the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division after tonight’s match with Colden Common was postponed.

Common couldn’t raise a team for the clash at the Shell Mex, which, if Club won, would have seen them crowned as league winners.

Scott Marchant’s side will now travel to the only team that poses a threat to their potential championship, Baffins Milton Rovers, on Saturday to try get the three points needed to put it beyond their rivals.

The Portsmouth side have led the division since August but were toppled off their pedestal for the first on Monday when Hamble Club defeated Winchester Castle 4-0.

Hamble have held multiple games in hand over Baffins for the majority of the season, with cup campaigns playing havoc with their league schedule.

That means even if they don’t get a result against Lee Newport’s side, they’ll have four games in which to complete their title charge.

Hamble will wrap up their campaign with games against Bush Hill and Headley.

A new date for the Colden Common match is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Hedge End Rangers defeated AFC Stoneham 2-1 in their penultimate game of the season.

Gavin Cross and Jack Igglesden were on target for Rangers at Pirelli Sports Ground.
