QK Southampton are giving a second chance to youngsters who are without a club for the coming season.

The Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League outfit are interested in taking on players from ages 16 to 18, opening their doors to those without a club to play for.

The Lordshill-based club are willing to offer a home to those players that have been released or not selected by the youth set up’s of clubs higher up the footballing ladder.

“We have a large number of clubs close to us who can offer excellent opportunities to young players," explained youth team manager Chris Hamilton.

"The likes of AFC Totton, Sholing and Eastleigh are in the area, however, many players at these clubs have ended up being released or not taken on following a trial period.

"It is these type of players that we wish to target."

First-team manager Mark Sainsbury is not shy about picking youngsters if they are up to standard to play in the county top-flight, as his team selections proved last term.

QK are offering Hampshire County youth league matches as well as the opportunity to progress into senior football with the reserves and Sainsbury's first string.

"We can give young players a second chance at QK,"Hamilton added. "Too many of this age group are lost to the game, and that is a great shame.

"QK are fully committed to developing young players."

Training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lordshill Recreation Ground SO16 0XN, with all players in the 16-18 age groups are welcome to attend.
