IN the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League last night, Liss Athletic won their fifth consecutive game to join Otterbourne at the top of the Senior Division after beating QK Southampton 2-1.

The Millbrook side travelled to Liss in good form, but two first half goals from Matt Andrews put Mark Sainsbury's side 2-0 down before Nathan Gray made it 2-1 on 39 minutes, writes Jack Adams.

Liss held out until the final whistle and the result saw them leapfrog Hamble Club into second place, right on the heels of in-form Otterbourne. QK Southampton play Clanfield next.

Also, last night, Hedge End Rangers beat Locksheath 2-0 to secure their first win of the season.

It was James Scott who won the game for Rangers with a goal in each half. Hedge End face Liss on Saturday, who will want to keep the pressure on Otterbourne at the top.

Locksheath meanwhile have time to rest, with their next game coming on Wednesday, at Bush Hill.

On Saturday Otterbourne will look to pull away at the top of the division after destroying Fleetlands 17-0.

They will look to improve their goal difference further by doing similarly against Stockbridge, who have conceded 19 goals in five games.

Other notable games include the only team yet to win, hosting a team who have yet to lose, as Overton take on unbeaten Infinity.

Winchester castle have the chance to equal their points tally with Baffins Milton Rovers, who meet on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Hamble Club face Headley United, Colden Common travel to Liphook United and Paulsgrove host Bush Hill.

On the opening day of the Division One season last Saturday a lot of goals went in, 30 to be exact.

Hayling United top the table after impressively winning 7-2 at Lyndhurst.

Broughton scored seven as well; it finished 7-3 in a ten goal thriller between Broughton and Upham.

Andover Lions took the points home from Sway by beating them 3-1.

Michelmersh & Timsbury also brought home the goods after travelling to AFC Petersfield and winning 2-0. Four Marks were the only home team not to lose, by beating Netley Central Sports 3-2.

This Saturday, an early season top of the table clash can almost guarantee goals, as last week’s 7-3 winners Broughton host 7-2 winners Hayling United.

Another two teams sat on three points meet this Saturday as Four Marks play Michelmersh & Timsbury.

Burridge AFC feature in their first game of the season this weekend, as they travel to heavily defeated Lyndhurst.

Sway host AFC Petersfield. Both teams will want to get off the mark for the season after home defeats left them both on no points.

Upham and Andover, who both scored three last week, meet this Saturday to see who can outscore who.
