White closes in on Wessex league scoring record

JAMIE White belted his second four-goal haul in eight days to close in on a truly amazing achievement.

The ex-Saint went into his last three Winchester City games of the season needing 11 goals to break the record for the most Sydenhams Wessex League Premier strikes in a season.

He promptly belted four in City’s 8-0 win against Brading and repeated the feat at the weekend as Winchester defeated Totton & Eling 4-0.

Now a hat-trick at Fareham in the last game next Saturday would see White finish one ahead of Andy Forbes’s 2003/04 record of 55.

City owner Paul McCarthy said there was no better striker in the whole Southern League than White.

“Jamie White is pure class and is better than anything than the two divisions above us can offer,” he stated.

“He may be the greatest non-league striker.”

it was a shame he got that serious injury when he did, i think he would have been a star of the future before that. Oh well not to worry, hopefully he will make a nice living for himself in the lower leagues, he has heart, never did give up. Good luck to him
