BLACKFIELD & Langley want to follow up their FA Cup heroics by reaching Wembley in the FA Vase.

The Watersiders host Bournemouth Poppies, last year’s quarter-finalists, in the second round at Gang Warily tomorrow.

Their biggest match since their fairytale FA Cup run ended in the fourth qualifying round at Hastings last month is made even spicier by the fact that five players left Poppies to join Ashley Vickers’ Blackfield revolution in the summer.

Dave Ewen, Jake Rowley, Joe Byrne and Max Crowe could face their former teammates.

Kane Daysh has left for Australia since swapping Bournemouth for Blackfield.

But Chris Farrell, Poppies boss Kenny Vaughan’s former right-hand man, will be in the home dug out tomorrow as part of the Watersiders’ management team.

Blackfield assistant manager Glenn Burnett said: “It adds a lot of spice to the game and I’m sure Poppies will be bang up for it.

“But we won 4-2 at their place after being 2-0 down last Tuesday and haven’t lost at Gang Warily all season.

“It’s been a little fortress, we’ve been drawn at home a lot in the cups and hopefully our good form will continue.

“Although we enjoyed the FA Cup run, we were never going to win it. But it’s not unrealistic to think we could go much further in the Vase.

“It’s a chance to reach Wembley.”
