DAVE Diaper says his Sholing side must stop “self harming” if they are to make a quick escape from the Evo-Stik South & West drop zone, writes WENDY GEE.
The second-to-bottom Boatmen went in 2-0 up at half-time in Saturday’s basement battle away to a Taunton Town side sitting one place and five points above them.
But they had only themselves to blame for conceding inside two minutes of the restart. And that was all the invitation the Somerset hosts needed to hit back for a 2-2 draw.
“I keep banging on about not giving away silly free kicks – and what do we do? Concede one right at the start of the second half,” said Diaper.
“It was a poor shot by them, but our goalkeeper Lee Webber’s dived over it and it’s gone under his body.”
Sholing had controlled the first half and Diaper’s decision to push giant centre-back Pete Castle up front in place of the unavailable Jamie Musselwhite was a master stroke. Full report in today's Daily Echo.
