SHOLING are carrying the weight of the entire Evo-Stik Division One South & West on their shoulders after letting a two-goal lead slip for a second week running.
The Boatmen, who have made the play-offs for all three seasons as a Southern League club, slumped to bottom spot after high-riding Tiverton fought back to draw 2-2 at the Silverlake Arena.
The Boatmen replace Yate at the foot after the Gloucestershire outfit won 2-1 at Merthyr Town. A week previously Sholing had been two up at fellow strugglers Taunton only to draw 2-2.
But manager Dave Diaper said: “It was different this week. Tiverton are right up there. It was no disgrace to draw.
“It was a fair result, but their manager reckoned we should have won, which is a new one on me!
“Yate’s win means we’re bottom, but it’s just one of those things. “The only way is up.”
