BLACKFIELD & Langley have mixed feelings about landing another all-Sydenhams Wessex tie in the FA Vase fourth round. Having seen off divisional rivals Bournemouth Poppies and GE Hamble in the final two regional rounds, the Watersiders must make the short trip to Bemerton in the last 32 on Saturday, January 19 – even though the competition has gone national.

Some believe it’s more than coincidence that Wessex sides are being paired together, but Burnett is not sure.

“I said to (Hamble co-boss) Dave Lewis after Saturday’s game that we could get one of two draws – Bemerton or Newport IoW away!” he laughed.

“But sometimes it’s luck and the draw just goes like that.

“It’s a shame for the Wessex League that three clubs have gone through and two have drawn each other, but maybe it’s coincidence, who knows?”
