Gosport Borough stretched their sensational unbeaten run in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier to 20 games last night after demolishing St Albans 6-1 at Clarence Park, writes RYAN DAY.

The visitors arrived in Hertfordshire knowing a win would see them move into the play-offs for the first time this season.

And they wasted no time in taking control of the game.

Borough, who last lost in the league at Bedford on November 3, raced into a 4-0 lead within the opening 22 minutes.

The visitors were in front within 20 seconds through midfielder Daniel Wooden fired home before adding his second just four minutes later.

Centre half Daniel Woodward added a third for Alex Pike’s promotion hopefuls on 12 minutes.

Skipper Aaron Cook added a fourth in the 22nd minute before ex-Hamble striker Rory Williams pounced to score his fifth goal in four games to stretch the lead in the second half.

After St Albans replied with a consolation goal, Adam Wilde completed the route as he fired in an indirect free-kick.

Gosport now face a mouthwatering home game against table topping Leamington this Saturday at Privett Park.
