Eastleigh will have to defy the history books tonight when they face Aldershot Town in the Vanarama Conference Premier.

The two sides have never played a league match, but have met five times in the Hampshire Senior Cup – three of those at the Silverlake Stadium – and all those matches on Stoneham Lane have ended in a Shots win.

Tonight Richard Hill’s side will look to change that.

The match will mark the first occasion that Eastleigh will appear on television – with BT Sport covering the match – and it also be the first ever Conference Premier match played at the Silverlake Arena.

With all that background it is set to be a mouth-watering feast of elite non-league football.

Former Eastleigh striker Brett Williams will return to the Silverlake with Andy Scott’s men.

The Hedge End-based 26-year-old former Winchester City and AFC Totton man, who had three different spells at the club between 2004 and 2011, scored in Shots’ opening day 3-1 win against Altrincham.

Two Eastleigh players, Jamie Collins and Craig Stanley, face their former charges.

Stanley captained the team last term and Collins made 33 appearances between June 2011 and January 2012.

Shots have added to their playing staff over the summer.

New skipper Glenn Wilson signed from the crisis stricken Salisbury City and they also signed Damon Lathrope from Torquay, Kieron Forbes on loan from Forest Green Rovers, former Portsmouth stopper Phil Smith, Joseph N’Guessan on loan from Stevenage Borough and Dan Fitchett from Salisbury. Naby Diallo also arrived on a one-year deal from Weston-Super-Mare.

Eastleigh have sold out their main stand for the game.
