HAMPSHIRE FA have confirmed that an investigation has been launched into events that occurred during last week's Hampshire FA Senior Cup tie between Basingstoke Town and Tadley Calleva.

Sydenhams One minnows Tadley produced a major upset, knocking holders Basingstoke out on penalties following a 2-2 draw against the high-riding Conference South hosts.

But the game was overshadowed by crowd trouble at The Soccer AM Stadium, writes John Boyman.

A series of pitch invasions led to police being called to the ground, while there have also been reports of flares being lit.

One arrest was made, a 21-year-old man from Tadley getting a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly.

Writing in the Daily Echo's sister paper, The Basingstoke Gazette, Stoke boss Jason Bristow accused Tadley fans of subjecting goalkeeper Kieran Greene to “abuse and behaviour that is no longer welcome at football matches.”

Gary Pratt, Hampshire FA’s operations manager for competitions, confirmed that information picked up from various sources had been passed on and that an investigation was under way.

Hampshire FA will make no further comment until the investigation has been completed.
