SIXTH-PLACED Brockenhurst have been given a boost ahead of tomorrow’s Sydenhams Premier Division assignment at Verwood.

Central midfielder Tom Hill has turned down the advances of divisional rivals Blackfield & Langley.

Hill, one of a handful of former AFC Bournemouth youth players in the Brock squad, joined the Grigg Lane club midway through last season. He had previously been with Bashley in the Southern League but fell out of love with football.

“He came to us to enjoy himself again and he’s stayed on this season,” said Brock boss Pat McManus.

“He’s rebuffed Blackfield and opted to remain at Brock, which is good news for us.

“Even though Blackfield have a lot more resources than we have, he’d see going there as a sideways move. If Tom was going to move, I think it would be further up the pyramid. That’s the only way he’d go.”

Hill is doubtful for the Verwood trip having dislocated a finger at Follands on Saturday and is carrying a calf injury.

Dan Smith is out with groin trouble, but Will Tickle has resumed training after ankle trouble.
