MONEYFIELDS remain four points clear at the Sydenhams Premier Division summit after thumping Bournemouth Poppies 5-0 at Dover Road.

Steve Hutchings, a former AFC Bournemouth apprentice, struck twice to boost his season’s Wessex tally to 33 goals and was backed by one apiece from Tom Chapman, Dan Gauntlett and ex-Sholing midfielder Lewis Fennemore.

Petersfield Town remain in hot pursuit after adding to Fareham Town’s woes with a 4-2 win at Love Lane.

Andy Todd (2), Dan Woodward and Warren Hunt found the target for the Rams, who were boosted by the return of striker Rob Tambling, who has been out with a shoulder injury since mid-September.

Petersfield have lost full-back/wide midfielder Jack James to Fareham but, on the plus side, they have welcomed in Jordan, Jacob and Sam Tarasenko.

The three brothers are Australian by birth but have recently been plying their footballing trade in Croatia.

“All three brothers have pace to burn and are technically very proficient,” said manager Ian Saunders.

Petersfield led 2-0 through Todd and dual-signed Gosport Borough man Woodward on Saturday before Fareham pulled one back through Josh Cripps’ flicked header.

It became 3-1 straight after half-time when Hunt swivelled and fired home and, just three minutes later, it was curtains for Fareham when Todd glanced home number four. Matt Parr’s third-to-bottom Creeksiders kept battling, however, and earned themselves a 68th-minute penalty which Lee Tigwell tucked away.
