A LAST-DITCH leveller denied Blackfield & Langley the chance to leapfrog Winchester City into third place in the Sydenhams Premier Division last night.

The Watersiders had to play outfielder Mark Ford in goal for most of the game at Hamworthy United after Scott O’Rourke had been stretchered after 15 minutes.

Sub Dan Munday came on in the reshuffle and it was he who gave Blackfield a 77th-minute lead.

But with the three points were beckoning for John Robson’s men, Greg Horlock struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to salvage the Hammers a 1-1 draw.

The result takes Blackfield level on 52 points with Winchester, but they trail on goal difference.

Moneyfields reclaimed top spot after edging a tight game 1-0 at Folland Sports courtesy of a Matt Burt own goal.

“Burty was extremely unlucky and we deserved something out of the game,” said Follands assistant boss Dave Lewis.

“Moneyfields are a good side and we went toe to toe with them for 90 minutes.

“It was scrappy at times but that was because of the commitment of both sides.”

Ex-Juventus man Vincent Pericard started for Moneyfields in the absence of the suspended Steve Hutchings and Lewis said: “Burty and Calum Brockway marshalled him well. No disrespect to him, but there was no gulf in class.”

WINCHESTER City’s much-changed side took Petersfield Town to penalties in the Sydenhams League Cup quarter-final.

But having done well to battle out a 2-2 draw, City let themselves down from the spot.

Goals by Chris Mason and Liam Robinson twice gave Winchester the lead at Love Lane, but Petersfield hit back late for 2-2 and there was no further scoring in extra time.

Mason and Robinson also netted in the shootout, but Stuart Green and Dom Cope both missed before Jamie Thoroughgood fired over.

Petersfield – last year’s beaten finalists – progressed 3-2 on penalties, booking them a semi-final date with Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

HARRY Cornick starred as AFC Bournemouth’s development squad booked their ticket to the semi-finals of the Hampshire FA Senior Cup.

The 19-year-old former Christchurch winger scored two and made one as the young Cherries fought back from behind for a 3-1 victory at Horndean.

Gary Austin gave the Sydenhams Premier hosts a 25th-minute lead, rounding ’keeper Jordan Holmes and calmly slotting home.

But quickfire goals from Cornick in the 55th and 56th minutes turned tie on its head before he laid on the assist for Josh O’Hanlon to net the Cherries’ third.

Bournemouth’s young guns join Sholing, Farnborough and Gosport Borough in the last four.
