SHOLING are inviting stay-at-home Eastleigh fans to swop one Silverlake for another tomorrow.

The Boatmen are offering reduced admission to Spitfires’ season-ticket holders for their Evo-Stik Southern One South & West showdown with Cinderford Town at the Silverlake Arena, writes WENDY GEE.

The deal, also open to Saints fans, offers reduced £5 admission on production of a Southampton or Eastleigh season-ticket at the turnstile. With Eastleigh off to Kidderminster tomorrow and Saints hosting Swansea on Sunday (4pm), Sholing – who have an average gate of 126 – are hoping there will be a few extra fans locally looking for a Saturday afternoon football fix.

“We’ve done cut-price admission several times for Saints supporters, but this is the first time we’ve done it for Eastleigh’s,” said manager Dave Diaper.

“We’re trying to get a few more through the gates and, when we’ve done it in the past for Saints fans, we’ve probably had 20 to 30 extra people coming in, so it’s well worth doing.”

As usual, Sholing have injury doubts tomorrow with Byron Mason (Achilles), Jack Smith (hamstring) and TJ Cuthbertson (ankle) all rested from Wednesday night training.

Rory Anderson has a slight back problem but, on a positive note, fellow keeper Matt Brown played in the reserves’ 3-0 Wyvern Challenge Cup victory over Blackfield & Langley – his first taste of competitive football since his broken finger healed.

Defender Pete Castle, still feeling his way back from knee problems, did train on Wednesday as did Tobi Adekunle who has been sidelined with hamstring trouble.

Sholing were joined by a new face in training – 20-year-old attacker Khadim Seck.

“We trained at ‘Goals’, so it’s hard to tell on a five-a-side court, but my first impression of Khadim is that he looks half decent,” said Diaper. “He plays just off the frontman, he’s 6ft 2in, very slim and has a good first touch.

“He’s an Italian lad who’s been over here for a year. He speaks five languages and studies at Southampton City College.

“I’ve got one or two guys doing some scouting for me and they came up with Khadim, who’s been playing for BTC in the midweek floodlit league.”

Unusually for 17th-placed Sholing, they have nothing but pride to play for in the league, albeit that their Hampshire FA Senior Cup and Russell Cotes Cup flames are still burning.

It’s been a year of transition following the break-up of last term’s FA Vase/Sydenhams Premier double-winning squad and their focus now is on recruiting for next season.

“We’re putting the feelers out for players. It’s all about getting in early and getting some good talent on board,” said Diaper. “New faces like Khadim help sometimes and it’s important to get the message out there that we are looking for players. We can’t just sit still doing nothing, burying our heads in the sand.”
