Baffins Milton Rovers beat in form Winchester Castle 3-0 to reach the final of the Puma Engineering League Cup in a tight semi-final tonight.

The Portsmouth-based side, the cup holders, were up against a Castle outfit that had gone unbeaten since November. But the Hampshire Premier League Senior leaders ended that run in a feisty game at Liss Athletic’s Newman Collard Ground.

Nothing separated the two sides early on until Castle failed to clear a hopeful ball forward on 17 minutes.

Baffins attacker Ollie Watts was able to drift into the box before rounding keeper Dan Chapman and driving a shot into the net.

Winch looked to hit straight back but Stuart Findlay’s shot deflected narrowly wide.

But for the incredible reactions of Rovers keeper Tony Male, Tom Johnson’s lashed shot would have levelled the game soon after.

Baffins doubled their at the start of the second half as Jake Couzens found room in a packed box to rocket home from ten yards.

Castle didn’t stop working and grew into the game, but Male made a couple of saves to deny them a way back into the match.

The game was put to bed late on as substitute Lenny Burney bundled home a rebound from a Shane Cornish free kick on the edge of the box.
