FOLLAND Sports assistant boss Dave Lewis said all the credit belonged to AFC Portchester after the Planemakers’ 8-0 Sydenhams Premier thrashing at Wicor Rec tonight.

The Hamble club had seven players missing and Matt Burt played the entire 90 minutes with a swollen ankle, but Lewis insisted: “First and foremost we played a good side tonight, so no excuses. That’s the best Portchester side I’ve seen.

“We hadn’t lost to them in six games before and they’ve always taken it on the chin and so will we. We’ll hurt in the morning but we’ll be up and running again for Newport IOW away on Saturday.”

Jack Salter-Vaile (4), Andy Rinomhota, Luke Sweeney, Harry Wedlake and ex-Planemaker Jamie Musselwhite got the Royals’ goals.

Elsewhere Moneyfields’ 2-0 home win over Verwood Town put them six points clear of Winchester City in the race for second spot. Winchester have three games in hand.
