JAY Keating is the new manager of Sydenhams Premier Division outfit Folland Sports.

The former Dorchester Town reserves boss is bringing coaches Sheriff Anjorin and Marc Scrimaglia along with him to Follands Park.

Keating’s ability to develop younger players was key to him landing the job.

Chairman Adrian Stremel said: “We have interviewed so many potential managers and have been flattered by the number and calibre (of applicants).

“But ultimately Jay stood out as the most refreshing candidate and gives us the best platform moving forwards.”

Keating and his coaching staff fill the void left by Danny Bowers who stood down in January due ill health after six years in charge.

Bowers’ right-hand man Dave Lewis took the reins for the remainder of the season but he is taking a year’s sabbatical from football.

“Danny and his team of Paul Cotton, Dave Lewis, Tim Middleton, Pete Newcombe and Darren Burdle have turned a struggling Sydenhams Division One side into a major force in the Sydenhams Premier League,” said Stremel.

“The club would like to publicly thank the team, especially Danny, for the tremendous effort they have put into the club over the years.”
