GOSPORT Borough have acted swiftly to draft in rearguard recruits for the 2015/16 National League (Conference) South campaign.

With just 40 goals conceded, Borough boasted the division's strongest defence last term on their way to a fine sixth-placed finish.

But manager Alex Pike has been quick out of the blocks to sign Ryan Woodford from neighbours Havant & Waterlooville and Adam Brice from relegated Farnborough.

Woodford joined Havant in 2009 after being released from Portsmouth and, after initial injury problems, had become a regular fixture in the Hawks squad, clocking up over 100 appearances for the Westleigh Park outfit.

But the form of Brian Dutton and Ed Harris made first-team opportunities hard to come by and he went out on loan to Bognor Regis Town towards the end of last season.

Centre-back Brice, meanwhile, spent his formative years at Aldershot Town before moving on to Woking where he was manager’s player-of-the-year in 2013/14. He joined Farnborough last August.
