GOSPORT and Fareham may be only a stone’s throw apart, but a move to Privett Park represents a huge step up for 21-year-old goalscoring midfielder Bradey Norton.

Amid Fareham’s struggle for Sydenhams Premier Division survival, Norton was one of the shining lights for the Cams Alders club.

His efforts did not go unnoticed by Gosport boss Alex Pike who has signed him on a one-year non-contract agreement three divisions up in the National League South.

A former Portsmouth youngster, Norton spent three years at Havant & Waterlooville’s academy and earned himself a one-year senior deal at Westleigh Park.

But first-team chances were few and far between and Norton went on loan to Gosport before moving on again to AFC Portchester only to pick up a hamstring injury in his second game. He signed for Fareham at the start of last season.

*Fareham’s neighbours AFC Portchester have announced the signing of Jack Eves from Sydenhams Premier rivals Bemerton Heath Harlequins. Director of football Jamie Steeves said: “We have high hopes for a player with plenty of Wessex League football (experience).”
