Newly promoted Winchester City will start their Southern League South & West Division One campaign at home to Bridgwater Town.

The Somerset outfit, who finished 12th last term, will visit the Denplan City Ground for Paul Masters' side's big league curtain raiser on Saturday, August 8 (3pm kick off).

City will then follow that home game up with a short trip to Wimborne Town on Tuesday 11 August (7.45pm kick off), as they get their Southern League campaign underway following their surprise promotion in June at the Southern League's AGM.

AFC Totton meanwhile will travel the opposite way to Bridgwater for a tough opening game at last season's third-placed outfit Taunton Town.

The Somerset side did the double over the Stags last term, with two 2-1 victories - both games ending with late heartbreak for Totton.

Steve Hollick's side's first home game is against Wantage Town, who finished third-from-bottom last season, on Tuesday August 11 (7.45pm kick off).

Totton did the double over the Oxfordshire side last term -- winning 2-1 a and 3-1.

Elsewhere, the fixtures for the first round of the Red Insure Cup throws up two spicy local ties, with Winchester travelling to Sydenhams Premier Division champions Petersfield Town, meaning there will be an exciting reunion of last season's Wessex 1st and 2nd teams.

Totton welcome Bashley to the Testwood Stadium and play their tie on Tuesday, 12 October, with Winchester playing the next day on Wednesday, 13 October.
