ANDOVER Town boss Neil Benson has been busy in the transfer market ahead of Saturday’s Sydenhams Premier Division opener at Moneyfields.

Popular former Andover FC defender and skipper Bobby Swayne has returned to the Portway having been working overseas for the last few years.

Town have also recruited ex-AFC Totton frontman Suhael Odeh, who made over 70 appearances for Alresford Town, including 41 during their SWL runners-up season of 2013/14.

Odeh will potentially be partnered up top by fellow newcomer Sam Pekun, a pacy former Hamworthy United frontrunner who played 41 games for Bournemouth Poppies last term, netting 11 goals.

Andover have also welcomed in attacking midfielder James Jennings, a Portsmouth academy graduate who has gathered Southern League experience with AFC Totton.

Winger Danilo Cadete, who numbers Woking, Alresford and Winchester City among his former clubs, is another to have climbed aboard along with fellow wideman Tommy Wright, a development player from National League South side Sutton United.

Andover will get little recovery time after Saturday’s opener at Moneyfields before being pressed back into action at newly-promoted Sydenhams One champions Team Solent next Monday.

But, despite the tough start, Benson is feeling positive for the new season and hopes to build on the club’s off-field support after a successful few weeks in the transfer market.

“We want to take the club to the next level, but with those kind of signings comes a financial element,” he said. “Our sponsors Premier Coatings have been really supportive and we are hoping to bring in more people like that.”
