Veteran Kev Gibbens helped fire Andover Town to the top of the fledgling Sydenhams Premier Division table, netting twice as Neil Benson's side defeated newly promoted Team Solent 3-2 at Test Park.

The ex-Blackfield & Langley and Sholing stalwart converted from a Danilo Cadete cross on 34 minutes before forcing home Lewis Benson's cross on the stroke of the break to make it 2-0.

James Taylor's students closed the gap just past the hour as Ben Wilson hit his first of the match.

Brad Benson was then on target from the penalty spot, Town's third in two games, for the third just four minutes after Solent pulled one back.

Wilson's second was a stunning curling free-kick on 90 minutes, but it wasn't enough to get Solent anything from their league opener.

Andover have won their opening two games after a 2-1 win over Moneyfields on Saturday.
