Fareham Town have promoted Steve Stone to manager after the departure of long term boss Matt Parr last week.

Stone was Parr's assistant but has now been elevated to the helm and, once he's returned from holiday on 22 August, will take charge of his first game against Andover Town in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

A club statement read: "The club are pleased to confirm that following Matt Parr stepping down from the manager’s job last week that we have promoted assistant manager Steve Stone to manager of the first team.

"Steve brings a wealth of experience to the role including coaching the Royal Navy and Army Representative Teams. He holds both a UEFA A license and a UEFA Goalkeeping A License.

"He is also an FA tutor delivering all FA/UEFA courses up to UEFA B License.

"We are very pleased that Steve has accepted the position and we look forward to working together to realise the potential within the club."
