HOLIDAYING manager Dave Diaper made a mad dash from the airport to preside over Sholing’s third win in a week last night.

The Boatmen edged past Fawley AFC 2-1 in the Sydenhams Premier Division thanks to two cracking strikes from Daniel Mason.

But they had to do it the hard way having fallen behind on six minutes when Damien Davies followed up a shot from outside the area and defender Pete Castle – making his 100th appearance in a Sholing shirt – deflected it past a stranded Ryan Gosney in the home goal.

Five minutes of pressure later and Sholing were level - skipper Byron Mason crossing for younger brother Dan to thunder a shot into the roof of the net.

Before Fawley could recover, the youngest Mason struck again from Alex Sawyer’s assist, wrapping up the night’s scoring in the first 13 minutes.

In Friday night’s other game, Salisbury secured their first home league win of the season, edging out Lymington Town 1-0 at the Ray Mac.

Brandon Munday sealed the points with a first-half header, while returning hero Robbie Matthews went on as a sub after the break.
