SALISBURY are the new leaders of the Sydenhams Premier Division.
Steve Claridge’s men crept ahead of Horndean on goal difference after outclassing Verwood Town 5-0 in front of a 682 Ray Mac crowd last night.
Ashley Jarvis opened the scoring with a penalty awarded for Charlie Gajic’s trip on Claudio Herbert and it was 3-0 by half-time thanks to Sam Wilson and ex-Verwood man Tom Whelan.
Kane O’Keefe then forced a Potters own goal before finishing the rout with a towering header.
Sholing, now seventh, came back from behind to draw 1-1 at Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
Having slipped into 15th-minute arrears to a Graham Mankin goal, the Boatmen hit back early in the second half when Dan Mason headed home Kev Brewster’s corner for his eighth goal of the season.
Ten-man Lymington Town triumphed 3-2 at Moneyfields (Steve Hutchings, 2) despite having their goalkeeper sent off. John Pyatt’s New Forest charges are up to ninth, level on points with Moneys.
