BLACKFIELD & Langley didn’t just beat Wimborne Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, they systematically destroyed the Southern One South & West outfit 6-1 at Cuthbury.

Dan Munday did the first-half damage for the Sydenhams Premier underdogs, first converting Rico Wilson’s cross and then tapping home Miguel Laborda’s delivery.

If Wimborne thought that was painful, the worst was yet to come as ex-Dorchester striker Wilson hit a nine-minute hat-trick to plunge the Magpies into 5-0 arrears.

James Stokoe pulled one back for the shell-shocked home side in the 73rd minute, but Jesse Gould replied straight from the kick-off and, but for Ed Zanin inadvertently clearing teammate Mark Irvine’s goalbound shot off the line, Blackfield could have seven.

Amazingly the Watersiders were shorn of six first-team players – Joe Byrne, Ekow Elliott, Sam Lanahan, Richard Jackson, Michael Durdey and Liam Green.

“What an incredible performance and incredible result!” enthused B&L co-assistant boss Chris Farrell.

“For me it’s the best since I’ve been at the club. We retained the ball well, were exceptional on the counter and looked like scoring every time we attacked.

“Having six players missing seemed to galvanise the rest of the lads and the younger players like Josh Buck, Matt Game, Dan Munday and Rico Wilson stepped up to the plate.

“We'd highlighted what we thought were the weaknesses we could capitalise on and everyone played their part. We were absolutely superb.

“We’ll enjoy the moment and hope for a home draw on Monday against opposition we have a chance against.”
