NEW boss Ollie Cherrett has set his sights on overseeing Christchurch’s return to the Sydenhams Wessex top flight “at the first time of asking.”

Cherrett has been unveiled as Adie Arnold’s replacement after leaving his post as manager of Dorset Premier League outfit Merley Cobham Sports.

He will be assisted at Hurn Bridge by Chris Hart, while former AFC Bournemouth midfielder James Rowe, who joined Priory from Merley over the the summer, has been appointed first-team coach.

Cherrett and Hart were among the crowd to see a Shaun Brian goal earn Christchurch a 1-0 win over Ringwood on Saturday in Sydenhams One.

The pair will take over the reins for Saturday’s home game against Downton.

Another new boss, Connor Natella, celebrated his first win in management as New Milton Town triumphed 3-0 at Pewsey Vale on Saturday thanks to goals from Dan Hicks, Robbie Woolner and James Shering.

Hythe & Dibden lost a tight game 1-0 at Alton where an 18th-minute Henry Fox goal settled the issue in favour of Michael Charles’ men.

Portland United powered seven points clear at the summit with an 8-0 drubbing of East Cowes Vics in which Ed Bastick and Alex Godfrey each bagged a brace.

Steve Jenkin struck twice and Sam House and Conor Thorne bagged one apiece as Totton & Eling celebrated their first league win, triumphing 4-0 over Andover New Street at Miller Park.
