EX-SAINT Dan Demkiv proved the catalyst for victory as Salisbury moved five points clear at the Sydenhams summit last night with a 2-0 home win over Fawley AFC.

But it was tough going for Steve Claridge's men who had looked destined for a 0-0 stalemate until Sam Wilson and the dynamic Demkiv popped up with late goals - much to the relief of a 520-strong Ray Mac crowd.

It was the introduction of lightning quick winger Demkiv that saved the day for Salisbury.

His menacing cross in the 85th minute set up free-scoring ex-Eastleigh man Wilson to net his 12th goal of the season.

Demkiv then broke clear and used his speed to surge away from the Fawley defence and make the points safe in stoppage time.

The Melksham-based 18-year-old , Claridge's fourth summer signing after being released from St Mary's, ensured the Whites made it 10 wins from 11 games in all competitions.
